Our New Favorite Restaurant - Trattoria Sostanza!

When you are next in Florence, don't miss Sostanza, a typical Italian trattoria near Piazza Santa Maria Novella and Borgo Ognissanti.  We ate there three times this trip - could not get enough of the place! There are two sittings a night - reservations are a must! Food is simple; price-point is reasonable; dining style is 'family' . Don't miss the "Petti di Pollo al Burro" - just order it and you'll know why it gets our Five Star Award! Go with a group or be ready to meet your new best friends! 055.212.691. No credit cards.

A Delightful Day Excursion when in Tuscany or Northern Umbria!

Business took us to Anghiari, an incredible, medieval town east of Arrezzo. We so enjoyed walking through the small piazzas and narrow, hillside streets of this village. It is rich in history and a special jewel off the beaten path! Check out their website (English link on the upper right side of the page) at www.anghiari.it.

A "Don't Miss" Exhibition at the Regional Museum of Ceramics, Deruta

We had the privilege of being the only Americans at the official opening of the exhibition “Deruta interpreta Pintoricchio”, an historic assembly of original works of art produced by 26 of Deruta’s finest ceramic artists. Pintoricchio was an Italian painter of the Renaissance (1454 – 1513), and images of his works have been exquisitely interpreted on a variety of ceramic pieces now on display at the Museum of Ceramics up in the old city (Centro Storico) of Deruta. Visit our favorite restaurant in the old city, Restorante Bar Pizzeria, located in a small alley behind the museum. Then just enjoy a slow stroll through this ancient, world-renown city full of more artistic talent per square meter than anywhere else on Earth! For more on Pintoricchio, click here.
